Overview
Summer Nurse Internship will run from May 19, 2025 through July 19, 2025. Eligible Nursing Students are those graduating in December 2025, May 2026, and August 2026.

Intern provides an opportunity for nursing students to advance their knowledge and skills in providing patient care. Interns are partnered with an RN who develops and supervises the Student Nurse Intern's experience while retaining full accountability and responsibility for the care of assigned patients. Performs basic nursing skills appropriate for the age and/or development of the patients served. In addition to performing normal duties of a Nursing Assistant, must demonstrate competency in technical nursing skills generally learned/acquired before beginning the last year of a nursing program; job duties will expand as skills are learned and competencies are documented by RN partner. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by the shift, unit, or facility assigned.
Responsibilities
•Patient Plan of Care: With RN direction and supervision, performs patient care activities based on age, need and expectations of the patient.* Performs various nursing skills according to established standards based on patient's plan of care and intern's ability/learning needs* Assists patients with activities of daily living * Assists with monitoring patient condition and response to medications, treatments, and therapies; takes relevant actions if any concern/question.
•Professional Growth: Utilizes the Student Nurse Intern learning experience to enhance and/or develop the knowledge, competence in technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, and the behaviors that are essential to the role of the Registered Nurse.
•Teamwork: Provides support to other patient care team members by assisting with patient care, associated tasks, and clerical functions.
•Communication: Uses various tools and techniques to communicate patient care information and enhance interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members.* Documents in the medical record consistent with guidelines and facility standards*Communicates pertinent clinical data and relevant changes in patient status to RN or other appropriate healthcare team members.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
H.S. Diploma/GED
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Desire to work in the Hospital setting upon completion of nursing school required and continues to acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in nursing school.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Advanced reading, writing and oral skills. Ability to respond appropriately to customer/coworker. Interaction with a wide variety of people. Maintain confidential information. Ability to communicate only the facts to recipients or to decline to reveal information. Ability to project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor. Ability to utilize PC including, basic elements of Windows environment, keyboarding, work with mouse, and perform basic computer tasks with instruction.
